Blame is on both sides here, but the reaction is very disproportionate on the Smith's side. I agree, it was a poor taste and even bullying what Chris Rock said about Jada. She and Will had every right to be angry about that but Will's reaction was way over the top.

The punishment didn't fit the crime IMHO.

Violence is only appropriate in one circumstance, if your life is threatened or serious bodily harm (assualt/rape/etc) is about to occur, you fight back.
