I Got a Free Year at Write.as
It caused me to go into a tailspin
There are so many writing platforms out there these days, ones that pay you money to create content (like Medium) and others that focus on the writing platform itself (like Ghost / Blot). Then you got the ones in between.
Write.as is just one of those in-between offerings that I got when I was a Coil.com member. Coil.com had a writing platform that was acquired by Write.as sometime in 2021. You can see this new Write.as minimalist driven blog at writer.thomasott.io. My other blog, thomasott.io is still alive and kicking (so far).
There are some great pros to Write.as I see right out of the box. It’s clean and easy to use. While it can be a bit hard to navigate at times, the emphasis is on writing as it should be. The cost is reasonable at $9 a month so it’s on par with WordPress and Ghost.
One big thing I like is that Write.as Pro let’s you have anonymous blogs and that’s handy if you write NSFW stuff or want to have a pen name. That’s been my biggest annoyance with Medium, you have to create a new account to write under a pen name.
Yet, it’s not perfect. Write.as, biggest downside is the lack of community. They trying to fix that by offering to crosspost to the Read.as community.
