I met my wife on Match.com back when online dating was new. I opted for that route because - let's face it - I don't fit neatly into any constructed societal box. I wasn't interested in forming a LTR within someone I met at a bar, nor was I interested in the standard dating scene, but I started with the standard SWF designation because I had to start somewhere.
I wrote up a super honest and detailed profile and then went on dates with a bunch of SWF but it wasn't clicking. I tried to read their bios and understand their mate potential. I was on a mate finding mission but I had standards. She needed to be educated, outdoorsy, confident, and have similar values w.r.t. to family and kids. Notice I didn't say 36DDs and HWP.
It wasn't until later I realized that love can come from anywhere that I dropped the 'W' from my filters. My wife was in the next batch of suggested matches. The interesting part was that she didn't have a profile picture but I read her honest profile and was intrigued.
Granted there's a lot people you have to weed thru on these apps but there are people out there on these sites looking for geniune conections. It's hard to find them but they are there. It's those connections that make life and love the sweetest. Keep the faith, 2021 will be a grand year filled with life and love. Maybe I should write about this story and post it on Medium.
