Medium is changing. IMHO they've built up enough critical mass of writers that they can turn themselves into something else and attract more authors. Maybe even be bought out.
My opinion is that it's best that authors have their own hosted domains and then write there. If you use the Ghost CMS you can even make subsrciptions and collect $ directly from your writing.
The only drawback to that is that you become that one person screaming 'look at me' into the Internet void. Perhaps if more similar authors banded together on a publication it might work. Make a seperate Medium type of publication but on your own domain. Food for thought.
