The thing is about hookup culture is that it could really work if, as you said, people had manners. I also add honest communication too.

I will admit that my younger years I wasn't emotionally equipped to date properly and had emotional fallout after one night stands (etc). Maybe age and/or having a long term partner helped me become more emotionally mature where I could entertain the idea of different relationship configuration whether they are long or short, hookups, or whatever.

Things are changing are changing for the better if my children are a barometer. There are frank discussions in their friend circles (male and female) about things like consent, LGBTQ+, etc.

Maybe, just maybe, there is a glimmer of hope.
