This is something very hard for the general public to wrap their heads around. They equate biological sex as gender. The amount of pushback from parents in my school district because of new state sex ed requirements that address gender identity/fluidity as part of comprehensive sex education is insane.

The backlash was so strong that it forced a qualified superintendent to resign and led to more crazies being elected to the BOE.

When you have domestic terrorists destroying power substations to prevent drag queens from reading stories you are still very far away from just acknowledging that gender is a construct much less accepting it.

It's sad our society and culture get hung up on this stuff.
