We Are Inches Away From Nuclear War

I’m not being a sensationalist either

I grew up in the ’80s under 8 years of President Reagan. I watched him speak at the Berlin Wall and proclaim to the world, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” Then I watched the collapse of the Soviet Union and everyone took a sigh of relief.

Why?

Because the threat of nuclear war seemed to be over. I know I felt better, I worried all the time that we’d all die in a fireball at any time.

I was a teenager at the time and I felt like a giant generational weight had lifted off my chest.

We could finally be free of the constant fear of complete nuclear annihilation.

But that was an illusion. Fast forward 30 years and here we are again. News reports of a possible Russian attack on Ukraine with nuclear or chemical weapons.

They say that it would be a small 10–100kt tactical nuclear strike, a way to turn the tide of the war in their favor. After all, they need to save face because this so-called war is a failed invasion.

The mighty Red Army that I was so scared of after watching Red Dawn, is nothing but an antiquated military. The modern weapons given to Ukraine have stalled what would’ve been a fast invasion.
